Don’t hire domestic workers just based on Facebook posts; Bengaluru police nab a gang engaged in house theft
Bengaluru, January 8: The Bengaluru police have apprehended members of a notorious gang engaged in house thefts by posing as domestic workers.
The gang’s modus operandi involved initially posting advertisements about the availability of domestic workers on Facebook. They were hired by unsuspecting homeowners for domestic chores. Subsequently, the individuals would pilfer valuables from the homes where they worked.
The Bellandur Police pursued the gang responsible for these house thefts, and the members of the gang eventually fell into the police trap. It is known that those arrested were wanted in multiple cases of similar crimes in Mumbai as well. They used to pay money to security guards and these guards, in turn, recommended the accused for work to property owners. The gang fled Mumbai when the police began monitoring their activities, according to sources.
